This week in science #9

          This week in science I dissected a frog for the fist time. I actually liked it. I didn't think I would like it. Me and my partner Morayo took and drew pictures of the frogs. I took out every organ and took the arms off. The only thing that was left was the head, spine, and legs. For some reason I decided to pop the eyes. Weird.
          
          This week in science I learned that frogs eyes are actually blue. I learned that frogs have strong bodies from all the hopping they do. They have six packs. Which is also weird. I thought only humans could get that. I learned that a frog pretty much has the same organs we do but their organs are placed differently. I also learned that I love to dissect things and I want to do more. PLEASE DAVID GIVE US BETTER ANIMALS TO DISSECT !!
          The 2 organisms dissected at my table were the mouse and the frog. One part of the frog that the mouse had was the heart. They were both located around the neck of the organism. Another part was the stomach. They were both located in the middle area of the organism. The last part that im gonna talk about is the lungs. Both were located on the sides of the organism. The differences were the skin tone, size, shape, and other features. In other words the dont look alike at all.

This week in science #8

           This week in science I dissected a Crayfish. Me and my partner Kendry split the Crayfish in half. But before we did that, we took pictures of it at different angles. After we cut it in half we moved some of the organs around inside each half. I don't know why I did it but I decided to pop its eye on the half that I had. The dorsal view of the fish basically shows the shell, eyes, and antenules. The antenules are proximal to the eyes. The fish needs these features to survive in its environment. The ventral view of the fish shows the eyes, antenules, and claws. Adaptation would be impossible without its claws because that's what it uses to fight off predators. The claws are long there for distal from the eyes. The crayfish lives in a watered environment. The crayfish have their claws that help them survive.
           I still wonder what the crayfishes brain looks like because I couldn't find it. I learned that Crayfish are like miniature lobsters. I learned that I like dissecting organisms with friends. My aha moment was when I witnessed Morayo and Melanies giant grass hopper squirt when she cut into it. The crayfish kind of reminds me of the plant investigation because if we didnt have patience on either projects, we would have messed up.

This Week (MONTH) in Science#7

         
          This month in science I made a Mimic Decapus. It is a recreation of the Mimic Octopus in the new climate. I made some slides in my project: Zoology of the future. I put a video of the Arctic ocean in the present. Then i drew a picture of the Arctic ocean 100k years in the future. It turned into a rain forest. So that's why I transformed the Mimic Octopus to survive in the new climate. I had to do a screen cast with face time. I didn't like it but i had to deal with it to get a good grade. I also didn't like the fact that only 2 members were present for most of the project.

          This month in science I learned how to make a screen cast. I never knew that it was possible to record your screen within your screen. I learned that it is easier to work with one partner. The reason i say this is because my group was supposed to have work from 4 members. Instead we only had work for 2 members because the members weren't present. I am still unsure about what grade my group deserves but i hope we get judged individually. I had a aha moment when we did the face time screen cast because i was nervous and my shape-up was crazy.

Background research: Crickets eat fruits, seeds, small insects, some leaves, and they eat organic materials. They can't live without habitat, they usually live under rocks and logs. They need warm weather and soil to lay there eggs. Depending on the crickets, some crickets don't like light but other crickets do. Female crickets die after laying there eggs. Some male crickets like to have chirping competitions with other male crickets. Crickets need to have a good diet or else they would start feeding on each other, also they need a good supply of water. Female crickets are larger. They communicate by seeing, smelling, and touching.

Cricket investigation

Background Research:   My group and I closely observed crickets in containers. Their was an wet napkin and a dry napkin on each side of the container. We watched the crickets for about 10 minutes. We noticed that they like the wet side better.

Question: Do crickets like wet or dry places?
 
Hypothesis: Crickets like wet areas better than dry places

This Week in Science #6

          This week in science listing things i cant live without was the first thing I did. Then I listed the things a cricket cant live without. Then we started something with jelly beans. We had to make a dichotomous key determining the difference between the beans. For every yes or no we had to make up a question for it.
          This week in science i learned that crickets prefer the dark because that's when they start to chirp. I learned that crickets cant live without air, a nest, food, water, and a partner. This week in science i learned that crickets prefer wet places because we had followed a crickets movements for 2 minutes 3-4 times over a wet napkin and a dry napkin to see whether they like wet or dry places better.

This week in Science #5

          This week in science we experimented with Grass hoppers. I helped create shelters for them. I helped put 3 in each case, a slice of an apple, and a crumbled up piece of paper. I had witnessed a live tarantula for the first time in my life. It had purple on the top and it was very hairy.
          I learned that Grass hoppers die extremely easily. They grow slow and they make the chirping sound when they flap their wings. I learned that crickets dont bite humans. I also noticed that they rarely eat. Grass hoppers dont really do much but walk around and make annoying noises.  This is an example of an insect, that i really want, doing cool things
